THE ART OF SELF-ENQUIRY
May

THE ART OF SELF-ENQUIRY

This is an opportunity to try this tried and tested method of self enquiry that combines the ancient Zen practice of contemplating a question or 'koan', with modern communication processes. The contemplation happens within paired exercises called ‘dyads’, where one person contemplates and the other listens and receives what occurs as a result of contemplating the question.

Introduction to Self Enquiry

The old adage ‘Know thyself’ has wisdom to it. To know oneself fully brings an sense of inner calm and rootedness. We become less prone to confusion and less at the mercy of life’s ups and downs. This is a process of finding clarity, purpose and truth, as opposed to being told who you are or what is ‘true’. We use a tried a tested technique that combines the age old practice of contemplation with modern day communication processes, that supports your journey in finding clarity, knowledge and wisdom.

HEALTHY BOUNDARIES 2/3

Creating Healthy Boundaries for a Fulfilled Life

Having healthy boundaries that support who we are and that enhance our personal and professional relationships is an art we can learn to master. Like a customs check at the border of a country, healthy boundary management lets in the good stuff and keeps out the bad. Unfortunately life doesn’t hand this knowledge to us on a plate, but this is a skill that we can get better at practising.

REAL MEN DON'T SING

REAL MEN DON'T SING

At a small church in the mid 1990’s, I saw the ensemble ‘Mtiebi’ from the Republic of Georgia in concert. Dressed in their black cossack-like costumes, bullet cases lining their chest pockets, with daggers in their belts, I was struck by this group of men, singing their culture’s songs, rooted in their masculinity, at times singing with such power and then with such heart-breaking gentleness.

Singing for many men in the UK remains a go-go zone. I want to challenge the notion that ‘real men’ don’t sing, and open a door to a celebration of the male soul through an exploration of voice, sound and song.

SACRED AND ANCIENT SONGS OF GEORGIA

Wellbeing through the Ancient and Sacred Songs of Georgia

The benefits of song are well known; coming together in harmony builds community and a place to let go and be carried by songs from another land, another time and culture. The Republic of Georgia has a rich and ancient singing tradition that dates back to ancient times. In this group we will also use song, voice and sound to connect, to heal and to embody.
